Because she's one of the cool kids...

The other day Heather posted this awesome card on her blog. It's a diorama. I'd seen the tutorial on SCS but had never attempted one because I did not think outside the box and thought it had to be those dimensions.

Anywho, she did this cute card, which I cased tonight, only varying it slightly by the stamps I used.

I used So Saffron, Cool Carribean (discontinued In Colour from '07) and Lovely Lilac for my paper and the stamp sets "In the Stars" and "Nursery Necessities". The picture is a bit poor as I do not have much natural light in my craft room now.

I'd attempt to do some sort of a tutorial(the one on SCS is longer and not as wide, I like Heather's square better), but Heather already has and after reading how she actually did this card, I was way off as far as size went. :p She has another super cute card that she did for the tutorial which sadly, I think I'm going to case as well for a friend who is expecting. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery right??

Edit: I've been asked how I made my 'cool' waves. It was really by trial and error. smile After some puttering around, what finally worked best was to use a pc of my scrap paper that was the width of the card and use my 3/4" circle punch. I punched half circles an even amount apart then used that piece to trace only the 'dips' on my good cardstock. I then removed that and 'curved/curled' the tops to make the waves. Also, because I made waves, I had my border on the CC layer a bit closer to the scored line on either side so the waves blended in better. I used the same amount of border on the top and bottom though as Heather used in her Tutorial.

My card was 5"x 9 1/4" for the back and front layers and the inside layer was 5"x7 1/4". I may re-do this card today using Heather's dimensions (4 1/4 x 8 1/2) because it really is kind of big. I also think I'm going to add dangling stars to give it that extra pop!

Oh and the Cool Caribbean cardstock and ink I used is from last years "In Colours". I was able to buy both on ebay for a good price, which I was super happy about since I just love this colour!
