And then there were ten...

As I mentioned in a previous post, I've been working on this one cross stitch project for years. It was suppose to be for Tash, but I did not quite get it finished, and now, in the last few months I've picked up my needle again and started to work away at it. I've finished three, and am now working on the 11th one. I've decided that there is no way I'm going to do 2 of these quilts, so once I have 16 of these critters completed, that will be it. Hopefully I can finish it before I get pregnant with #2 kidlet and give birth to him/her. ;0)

EMS Baby Animals

It seems like it's been forever since I actually sat down and stitched. I can't even remember the last time I had a needle in my fingers. I started stitching again this past week and for the first few stitches, the needle felt like such a foreign object, but it was not long before I was back into the 'swing' of things and stitching like I'd never tucked it away.

A very, very long time ago (over 5 years ago if memory serves) I started stitching Ellen Mauer-Stroh's Animal Babies. The original intention was to make a baby quilt for my nephew, who at the time, was yet to be born. That same nephew is now five years old. redface The next plan was it would go to his little brother. His little brother is now 2.5 yrs old. Needless to say, I plugged away at the designs, but I never did finish enough to make into a quilt, even after I got pregnant, it did not encourage me to finish it any faster.

I can also date myself by saying that these same Animal Babies use to be on EMS's site for free when I started them, so I was lucky enough to collect a fair number of them before she ran into issues with others downloading them and selling them on ebay. mad It was at the time that she removed the patterns and put them for sale at PatternsOnline.com.

Anywho, all that to say, I finally started working on them again (my daughter is almost 9 months old...maybe for the second baby it will be done? question) and this afternoon I finished the dragonfly one;

Here are the other ones I have completed in the series - Frog, Skunk, Ladybug, Mouse, Dalmation and Bunny;

I originally thought I needed 12 to make the baby quilt, but I think I'll be cutting them down to size a bit, so I think I'm going to need more, perhaps 20? It won't be an issue since EMS has over 40 of them now I think.biggrin
